Phone Directory
A Phone Directory is the same thing as a phone book. A phone directory is a list with all the phone subscribers at a certain network, in the city. Every person that subscribes at a phone directory shows up in the actual list with telephone number and address. There are people that don`t want to appear listed in the directory and so they request to be taken out of . some people don`t want to have their name showed when calling someone and so they use unknown called id.
The Phone Directory was first invented in 1878 and it had almost 50 subscribers from Connecticut, and the first phone book was in 1880. the idea of having a phone book is very useful. Searching after names you can find addresses and home phone numbers. Mobile cell phone numbers aren`t listed in phone books. The only way a person can find another person`s cell phone number is by searching in the network company where that person is subscribed and look for the name to find the number.
The existence of Phone Directory in the form of phone books is very useful especially for big cities. If you want to find someone the best and most easy way is to look in the phone book. There are phone books like : the white pages that shows personal and alphabetical order, the yellow pages that shows business directory, grey pages meaning the reverse telephone directory and many other colours characteristic for a certain city or country.
Because nowadays technology has improved considerably and it`s fututre is looking bright, there have appeared many gadgets and internet programs that can help someone find details and private information about somebody else. There are people so smart that can do anything with the help of internet. So, a phone directory is a silly thing , any number or address can be easily found out even if you pay a fee to not show as being subscribed . As a conclusion, technology has reached a higher level so, a Phone Directory is not what it was many years ago, but it`s still very helpful for finding people, companies, bars, clubs etc.
