Phone Directory Uk

The digital phone is almost everywhere the most widely used and popular tool on the corporate intranet. Even if just a digital version of a phone directory of the old paper-based phonebook. But even if phone is popular, it has few places evolved into a unique intranet ‘killer application’ it has potential. What is an intranet killer application?

The term ‘killer application’ is one of the English / American terms that enough has been spent a little too easy – even in the intranet. I have thus heard it used in both search engine and canteen menu’s store. And yes, all three tools or types of content have their raison d’être of an intranet, but it does not mean that they necessarily intranet ‘killer applicatons‘.  Therefore I will start by describing three conditions must be met for that one can legitimately speak on an intranet killer application. It must first separate the wheat from the chaff, and help to strengthen and further develop the real killer intranet applications. Or – to continue in the English / American universe – how to ‘Unleash the killer potentials‘. Three requirements for an intranet ‘killer application’.

I see three conditions that must be fulfilled for the content or tools on the intranet can rightly be called a killer application: 1st It must have both original and derived value.

2nd It should mean benefits for both end user and content manager.
3rd It must provide value both to the company as a whole and for each organizational unit.

1: Both the original and derived value
An intranet killer application must both have value in themselves and add value to the rest of the intranet. This means that there are users whose needs – in a given situation – is attained only by using the tool. In this situation, it could therefore very well exist as a completely autonomous tool – no connection to the Intranet.  While the tool must have use value and add utility value to the rest of the intranet. This is done by giving a signal out to other content, and identifies entry to the tool from the rest of the intranet. It therefore creates an additional value when the tool is combined with the other content on the internet.

2: Value for both end user and content responsible
An intranet can be seen as a meeting place or a marketplace where some people make content available to other employees. The places where it works well, achieve mutually beneficial: End Users get faster ¬ stringent access to relevant and timely information and the content controller avoids the need to answer the same questions all the time or have other advantages that these details are visible and easily accessible.  A killer application is just such a venue where there is a built-in positive terms of trade, which makes it easy to get end users to use the tool and content providers to maintain the content.

3: Value, both for the entire company and the organizational units . It is not enough that employees (end-user and content provider) is experiencing a value or advantage to using the intranet. It should also underpin the company’s business goals. And this is regardless of whether it is a private or public company. It may be quantitative goals – such efficiencies and savings – or more qualitative goals – knowledge sharing, employee and organizational development.
