Reverse Directory Phone Number
Another privacy option that you have is choosing whether your number can be seen by the person you call on their phone display or not. If you do not want them to see your number you can either dial the number you are about to call together with a code, or ask the people from the telephone company to set this option by default, but in this case you can not reverse it whenever you wish.

You will be able to find telephone directories printed on paper or online, and they may list home phone numbers, cell phone numbers or both categories. Due to environmental measures that came up in the last years most of the phone directories are now only available online.
The history of the phone book starts a few years after the telephone was invented, back in 1876 by the famous Graham Bell. The first phone book appeared in 1878 in the States, in Connecticut and it covered only fifty telephone numbers because there were just a few people back then that owned such an innovative mean of communication. The British also issued a phone book two year after that, but their phone book only listed names and addresses and no phone numbers.
An interesting phone book category is the reverse directory where the subscribers are listed by their phone number, not by name or address. Reverse directory phone numbers are generally use by the police and the secret services to help them in their investigations and determine who is the caller. Along with this option they can also see your number even if you dial a code or if your number is not listed. However you can find phone number reverse directories on the internet. They are simple to use, you just enter the phone number and they give you the name and address, but they are not always very reliable.

I have been looking for a phone number that used to call me every day and hang up when I answered, the result I got was an address on the other side of the country which seemed to have nothing to do with a person that I could have known.
Then I thought of looking up my phone number just to make a test and the result was completely wrong, they gave me another name and address.
