The republic of Singapore is an insular state situated in the south of the Malay Peninsula and is the smallest state of the South-East Asia. Without the English occupation that brought here a lot of commercial activities and business it would have been a very poor country, and would not have been able even to practice agriculture, due to its small dimensions. Some of the English that were brought to work in the marine and commercial offices established here and married local women, so many of the inhabitants have mixed blood. Singapore officially became a self governing state in 1965, but this meant a crisis period for its inhabitants (lack of jobs, homes, the small territory and the lack of natural resources), because the money and business opportunities from Kuala Lumpur stopped coming, so they would have to manage themselves.

The next period of time was very tough for this little country but they got on really well, and now they have the fourth largest income in the world calculated per capita. The economy of the state is very much based on the processing of imported goods, especially from the production sector. They are specialized in electronics and finesse equipment, such as medical devices or mobile phones.

It is also an important tourist destination, both for pleasure but for medical reasons too. They have a lot of good doctors and specialists, and they have also cheap services in order to encourage the medical tourism phenomenon.
